by leiblander in Classic ModI wanted to build a themed mod based on Soviet nuclear technology from a fictional near future. I've long been fascinated with Chernobyl and similar nuclear accidents. I'm also a huge fan of games from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Fallout, and Metro 2033 series, and I wanted to take elements of those games and make a mod that would feel right at home in those settings. For my platform I used a Fractal Design Node 202 that was destined for the garbage heap because the PSU bracket had been damaged in shipping. This was easy to repair with a small nut and bolt. I used a bunch of scavenged parts for this build and several 3D printed parts (though I took great pains to make sure the parts didn't look 3D printed). The hardware in the build is from my personal gaming rig, including a Core i7-9700K, ASUS Strix z370-i Gaming ITX motherboard, 16GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4-3466 memory, MSI GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card, EVGA 650GM SFX PSU, Noctua NH-L91 --> then Noctua NH-L12S CPU cooler, 2x Fractal Design Prisma AL-PWM fans, 512GB Samsung 970 Evo NVME SSD, and ADATA 1TB 2.5-inch SSD. This mod won first place in the mod contest at NETWAR 37, on 9/06/2019 in Omaha Nebraska.
